DIY: Baby Shower Thank You Notes

Custom thank you notes are a quick and simple way to add a personal touch to your baby shower. We created our dinosaur-themed ones using a Cricut Maker, a nifty little device that lets you precision-cut different materials. Here’s how we did it.

Supplies

Cricut Maker
Cardstock (we choose blue)
Blank Cards and Envelopes
Elmers Precision Tip Glue Pen

Step 1: What’s Your Theme?

Decide on the style and theme for your note. We created custom dinosaur-themed elements that matched our shower invitation. Give some consideration to what color you want different parts to be, such as using two blue shades in our case.

Step 2: Lay Out Your Design

Begin by laying out the design in the Cricut software. The Cricut software contains tons of ideas and freebies, or you can create something like ours using very simple shapes.

Step 3: Print The Pieces

Print the pieces you’ll need for your card. If you’re making multiple cards, go ahead and print quite a few pieces, so you’ll have some extra. (The Cricut does a great job of maximizing the number of parts it can fit onto a single piece of paper, so take advantage of this and cut out some extras to have on hand.)

Step 4: Add Your Message

Before adding anything to the exterior, write or print the message you want on the inside of your card. Doing this first will help your card stay flat while you write your letter inside.

Step 5: Assemble!

Using an Elmer’s Precision Tip Glue Pen, add a dab of glue to each element of your design, and affix it to the front of the card. You’ll want to let the card lay flat to dry before you fold it.

Step 6: That’s It!

If you’re also doing the envelope (like we did in the example above), you’ll want to follow the same steps and make sure the glued elements are the last thing you’re adding to the card or envelope. A light bit of pressure can be helpful to ensure the glue spreads smoothly. Be sure to give it plenty of time to dry thoroughly before sending it in the mail.
